India and Uzbekistan have signed an agreement to integrate India’s national UPI system with the HUMO card scheme within the next year.
For now, the payment flow will be directed from India, with Indian tourists visiting Uzbekistan expected to be the main beneficiaries. They will be able to use their UPI apps while in Uzbekistan. Other payment corridors are also planned for the future.
UPI has officially been launched in several countries, but it is actively operating only in Singapore, Nepal, and Bhutan. The remaining jurisdictions are formally connected, but according to user feedback, their practical effectiveness remains relatively low.
These include Mauritius, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Cambodia, Qatar, and France.
