The main INDIA P2P PROCESSING news of the week 👇
1️⃣ The crackdown on mule accounts is intensifying. Following the introduction of the new RBI rules, enforcement measures have become more active. In Uttar Pradesh, thanks to a “first hour” response strategy, 34% of funds linked to cyber fraud were frozen in September. The Indore Crime Branch also made arrests in a case involving an interstate mule-account network. The takeaway is simple: when using working or rented accounts, transparent fund flows and a clean transaction history are especially important, otherwise there is a risk of account blocking.
2️⃣ The 30% UPI market-share cap is approaching. PhonePe and Google Pay still control more than 85% of the UPI market. The deadline for implementing the 30% cap is 31 December 2026. After this date, apps whose market share exceeds 30% will have to stop onboarding new customers. This could potentially have a significant impact on the UPI market; there are around 3 months left until the deadline.
